Ilkley Psychotherapy with Kate Graham

ABOUT KATE

Hi, I'm Kate Graham

I am an experienced psychotherapist, counsellor, supervisor and coach.

My aim in the work is to keep you safe, help you relax, and help you to access your own resources  so that you can move forward in greater peace and with greater energy and clarity.  I work from a place of curiosity, informed by theory and experience.

I want to listen to you, and find out about you, to help you to become clear what you really want, and who you are. I don't want to label you or make judgements about you, but to learn and understand how you think, what is important to you and what your passions are.

I am accredited with UKCP after a rigorous training, completed in 2016. I have also trained extensively in NLP and am a qualified Master Practitioner and Certified Trainer, as well as an NLP Coach. I regularly attend training and professional development courses and conferences, and read widely. I am currently training as a supervisor.

▪ I am a full clinical member of UKCP and am bound by their ethical code which you can find here.
▪ I am fully insured and receive regular supervision from a highly experienced psychotherapist and trainer.
▪ I am committed to learning and professional and personal development, in order to provide the best service possible to my clients.

In addition to my private practice, I have spent many years working with refugees and asylum seekers for Leeds charity Solace Surviving Exile and Persecution, and with young people in local secondary schools.  I enjoy working with people of all ages. I am  interested in working with clergy and those for whom faith is important. I am currently a member of a CPD group specialising in Autism and ADHD, in order to develop my skills and understanding in this specialist and much needed area.

Before training in psychotherapy I worked in the voluntary sector for nearly twenty years, in a wonderfully varied career that took me to many countries in Africa and Asia, including living in Kenya and Ethiopia. I have learnt a great deal from these experiences and bring this learning to my practice. I love being outside and attempt each year to grow vegetables, some with more success than others.
